The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center (formerly the National Wildflower Research Center), was founded in 1982 to educate people about the environmental necessity, economic value, and natural beauty of native plants. The Wildflower Center is a non-profit educational organization headquartered in Austin, Texas, with links to native plant societies and environmental organizations across the country and around the world.

to Exploring the Prairie Neal Smith National Wildlife Refuge (formerly Walnut Creek), located in Jasper County, Iowa, is a unit of the National Wildlife Refuge System administered by the federal government. The Refuge was created by an act of Congress in 1990 to re-create 8000 acres of tallgrass prairie and oak savanna, the native plant and animal communities existing in central Iowa prior to Euro-American settlement in the 1840's.
Friends of the Prairie Learning Center located at the Neal Smith National Wildlife Refuge. The Center's mission is to increase public awareness and appreciation of the Refuge, encourage public participation in prairie restoration and preservation, and promote public use and enjoyment of the Refuge. Site offers games, photo contest and other information for kids.
The Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation builds partnerships and educates Iowans to protect, preserve and enhance Iowa's natural resources for future generations. The current priorities of this member supported organization include permanent land protection, trail and greenway establishment, and promotion of improved land management.

NatureServe is an online encyclopedia of life. It's an extensive source of conservation information on more than 50,000 plants, animals and ecological communities of the United States and Canada. NatureServe provides in-depth information on rare and endangered species, but includes common plants and animals too.
