Blue Jay

Bright blue and very noisy, Blue Jays are common year-round residents in Iowa.

You will find Blue Jays in living snow fences where they can find cover and the oil-type seeds they like to eat. You will also see them in your back yard if you put out oil-type seeds or hulled sunflower seeds in your bird feeders. They'll also grab peanuts from your feeder if you put them out.
