RACCOON RIVER
VALLEY TRAIL
The Raccoon River Valley Trail runs through the Raccoon River Valley in central Iowa. The 57-mile asphalt paved, multi-use recreational trail runs between Jefferson and Clive in Dallas, Guthrie and Greene counties. The trail right-of-way consists of native prairie, timber, and a variety of trees, shrubs and grasses.

Throughout its route, the trail provides glimpses of Iowa before settlement in the form of native prairie patches within the corridor.

The trail also crosses the North Raccoon River in Adel and travels along the Middle Raccoon River just north of Redfield. There are several interpretive signs placed along the trail to explain natural and historic sites.

The central location of the Raccoon River Valley Trail makes it easily accessible to trail users from across Iowa and the country. This trail is part of the American Discovery Trail which will span the country from coast to coast.
